Presidential Election Solution

How many eligible voters actually vote in national elections?
61.4% voted in 2016, which is really close to the turnout in 2012.

1st President, George Washington would vote NOPE

We've all heard the "experts" blame the electoral college, or apathy, or the fact that the US doesn't have national voting holidays, among other reasons for low turnout.

We all know the real reason: crappy candidates.

Why do we have crappy candidates? The two party system and Party Primaries-- where only the gung-ho party loyalists vote.

Let's face it, a third party or independent candidate is NOT  a real option. All Ralph Nader and Ross Perot did was deliver the election to "the other guy." They get credit for at least trying to break the two-party choke hold on democracy, but all they did was tip the balance between two parties that most people don't really care about.

If you are the nominee of a major party, you are inherently unqualified to be President, Senator, etc... You've sold your soul to the highest bidder, you've pandered to the party base-- regardless of which of the two ineffectual, elitist, out of touch, parties nominated you. It's just how it works.

I have a simple solution:

I want to be able to vote "NOPE."

Imagine if the Republicans put forth a wing-nut and the Democrats put forth a screw-ball. Imagine, it's easy if you try. Don't you want to vote: NOPE?

The 40 some odd percent who don't vote are voting NOPE. That's their party affiliation. What if those people actually had a candidate. I bet NOPE would win.

Here's a scenario: The Republicans have the Fox candidate. The Democrats have the MSNBC candidate. You can vote for who Rupert Murdoch chose, or who Rachel Maddow chose. That's your right. But if you don't like either, you vote NOPE. If NOPE wins 33% of the vote. The election is voided and the two candidates are barred from running for the same office until the next election cycle. The two parties have to slink away and start over. We repeat this until one of the parties nominates someone that the American people actually like better than NOPE.

Very simple. Candidates are not running against each other, but against NOPE.

Let's fix American Democracy. Who's with me? Let's start a VOTE NOPE campaign.
